Welcome to Hope 08 in Leicestershire.  On this site we HOPE to bring you up-to-date news on whats is happening under the HOPE banner within Leicestershire.  You can find resources, contacts, information, news, talk and much more.

Imagine a year like never before ...

...when a vast number of Christians across the whole of the UK work together to reach out to their communities in word and action, with the support of thousands of churches and Christian organisations, plus the Police and Governmental bodies...

Hope 2008 will have a huge impact on people's lives in the UK and bring about long-term, lasting change at community level.

How will we do this? Thats up to you!

BIG HOPE
If your church, youth group, cell etc is planning an event why not let everyone know by sending us some information to post on our blackboard or news sections.  Keep an eye out for events in your area or teaming up with like minded people.

2008 - A year of Hope

When Hope 2008 was first suggested to a range of people, some expressed a desire for a strong programme that would leave people clear as to how they could participate, and others that the plans be kept to the minimum allowing churches and communities to interpret the initiative as they saw fit. The year will comprise Five High Points and a series of other seasons all of which resonate with the churches traditional calendar, but each of which provides fresh ideas to enable all to participate.

January is a time for 'Fresh Hope' a great opportuniy to invite friends and neighbours to lifestyle courses run by our churches.

March is 'The Big Hope' with activity based around practical exploration of Lent and the Easter story, making Easter accesible to all.

During May 2008 there is 'Hope Where You Live' with particular emphasis on the May Day bank holiday weekend and the Pentecost season.  This is a great opportunity to contribute towards the years challenge of Christians giving '1000000 Hours of Kindness' to their communities, meeting peoples needs in loving, spontaneous and imaginative ways.

During the summer we will encourage as many as possible to undertake a week or weekend of focused mission activity, through flagship events supported by a number of partnering oraganisations around the UK.

In September there is 'Hope Explored', with churches running courses across the UK where people can explore the Christian faith in an accessible and friendly wya.

Activity in December will focus on Advent and Christmas under the banner of 'The Gift of Hope'
